In January of 2004, against all odds, the “Dynamic Duo”, Lamar Johnson and Horace Christian started TGKS Records, an independent record company based in Lake Elsinore, California that specializes in producing children's gospel music and Christian music CD's and gospel animation DVD's for kids.  These two African-American men of God are trailblazers in the children's gospel music and gospel animation ministry who are determined to make people see that children are important people who can be used by God at a young age, and that kids need to be taken seriously in the Christian music and gospel music industry.  In the same year of 2004, the very first artist on the record label, an anointed group of inner-city kids called “Gospo & The Gospel Kids!” released their debut children's gospel music CD; "Sing Unto The Lord A New Song!"...which was nominated for a 2006 Stellar Gospel Music Award in the “Children’s Performance of the Year!” category.

 

In spite of their early success, the purpose of TGKS Records remains the same: "To use the powerful tools of music, television, radio and animation to lift up the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to proclaim the Word of God to make a powerful, permanent, life-changing impact on millions of children and families of all races around the world."  TGKS Records is "the record label where God is able and where children are the heart of the ministry."
